No matter how much work you do, it feels like it’s never enough…
But, that’s not really the case… So here’s WHY you feel inadequate and three steps to help you fix it.
When you feel like you’re not doing enough.
That’s just your imposter syndrome speaking.
High achievers have high standards. Which can cause unrealistic expectations.
You assume everyone’s “killing it” 24/7, and you just can keep up.
But you’re a high achiever, remember that.
If you have feelings of inadequacy, chances are others do too.
That’s just part of being human.
Our brain’s job is to find and solve problems (that’s how we survived this long as a species).
And being a high achiever means you’re constantly on the look out for problems to solve. Problems that you often find within yourself (whether they’re real or not).
So next time you’re feeling inadequate or like you’re not providing value:
- Take a step back. Just breathe. Calm down and get back to baseline.
- Remind yourself. You’re not alone. Almost everyone has feelings of inadequacy at times. That’s why the term “imposter syndrome” exists.
- Know that emotions are temporary and these feelings will fade. Weather the storm of negative emotions (without resisting them) and they’ll soon pass, just like everything else.
