Failure is inevitable. But how you deal with it is what decides if you succeed in the long run.
Here are five steps to help you overcome that next failure and reach long term success.
- Take a step back. Give yourself a moment to calm down. The last thing you want is to let that “failure” spiral your day out of control.
- Now that you’re calm and thinking clearly – What lessons can you learn from this failure? How could you have prevented it? Is there anything you can do to minimize risk/prevent similar situations in the future?
- Remind yourself, failure is an inevitable part of the process. It’s how we adjust our assumptions and gain new knowledge and skills.
- Know you’re not alone. Making mistakes and failure is part of being human. Every time you mess up, laugh. Millions of other people are making mistakes today, too. We’re all in this together.
- Get back on the saddle and get back to work. The sooner you hit that next failure, the sooner you reach your goals.
